hall of fame---------------bingley cree

Bingley Cree was born on June 27, 1914 in Sidmouth, Devon in England, he passed away in Canada on May 31st, 2011.

He was married to Irene for 75 years. She passed away December 26, 2011 age 98

A well-known figure on the grass track circuits of the south west of England, Bingley rode from 1929 up until the outbreak of war ten years later. He was the Southern Centre Champion in 1949 and 1950.

After working in the aircraft industry during the hostilities, he resumed his career on the grass and made occasional speedway appearances for Poole in the Third Division in 1948.

However, he disliked the more regimented and organised nature of speedway and decided against pursuing a full time career in the sport.

He did ride at NO 8 in Poole's very first match which was  league fixture at Tamworth on 14 April 1948.  Poole lost 21 - 63  and Bingley scored 1 point from 2 rides.

He rode 7 matches for Poole, but only scored 5 points.

He was also very instrumental in the renovation of Poole Stadium in 1948.

Bingley emigrated to Canada in 1951 and competed in occasional speedway events after settling in Canada, with friends Mike Tams, Stan Bradbury etc...
