Len Dillon lives in St. Catharines, Ontario and has been happily married to Noreen for 38 years and has 2 children and 6 grandchildren.

He retired from General Motors in 1996.

His nickname was quickly decided by his fellow riders in that of "Lightning Len" - Len was a very quick and fair rider, and is and was held high regard from his fellow riders!

He began racing in 1974 and retired in 1996 from Speedway and work, but came back to have fun in 1997. In 1999, in Three River's, Quebec, the bike and the body hit the wall at 160 Km an hour. The bike has been rebuilt, the leathers have been rebuilt and by the grace of God and a fabulous medical team, the body has been rebuilt as well. After 6 weeks in intensive care, with his wife and family at his bedside and the tremendous support of his friends, family and fans, he survived.

He's been 12 time Canadian Champion, carried the #1 plate 13 years, won numerous US State championships and CSRA and CMA High point Awards. He's raced in places like Florida, California, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand.

Len also enjoyed many motorcycle sports which have included Enduro, Motocross, Dirt Track, Speedway and Vintage Trials. The vintage trials is a great passion he shares to this day with his grandchildren - kepping the spirit alive!

•  12 time Canadian National Champion and #1 Plate holder for Speedway and Long Track 1983-1994.

•  Short track Championships 83, 84, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 93, 94.

•  Long track Championships 91, 92, 93, 94,

•  11 time Ontario Highpoints for Speedway 1980-1993

•  9 time Canadian Speedway Racing Association Highpoints 1980-1993

•  Represented Canada in U.S. qualifiers to World Final in 1982 and 1988.

•  9 time Max Award winner (Motorcycle Award of Excellence in 1984, 85, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92,93,94

•  C.M.A. Billy Matthews Award for Sportsmanship in 1990.

•  C.M.A. White Memorial Trophy (presented to the best all round Canadian Rider in all motorcycle sports) in 1991.

Ivan Mauger's Long Track Series – Australia

Participated against international riders including World Long Track Champion, Tom Dunker, and British Champion, Mark Loram, in Feb and March of 1998. Experienced engine difficulties in first two events while in qualifying position for finals. Finished 5 th , of 12, in final at the 3 rd event at Raymond Terrace.

Other :

•  1974-1977 : 3 National Championships for Enduro and Dirt Track.

•  Len also Plays hockey, roller blades, plays volleball, snowmobiles, snorkles and travels in his spare time.

A true gentlemen of Canadian Speedway and is viewed by other riders as a true role model on and off the track!
