July 10 2017

We have been starved of any speedway action at Welland Speedway so far this year, but thanks to some great organization, a Canada v USA race took place.

Our main site contributor Mr. Duncan Luke was there to record the event, and below is the posted report.

Extra Notes:

Track was very dry and dusty - only one race line with no grip on the outside - passing almost impossible. Riders generally were well spread out.

*** Heat 5 - Legault spun on the line and Orosz grabbed the lead. Kyle pressed hard but Jeff held him off until Legault tried to dive inside going into turn 3 on lap three and brought them both down. Both sent to the penalty line for the restart. No grip on the track so neither able to get close to Fafard on the restart.

Fafard had a large lead in heat 7 before having to slow with engine problems.

Four on the line for the Main with the other two on the penalty line.

Legault started from the inside gate with Orosz on the outside. With passing all but impossible getting the early lead was crucial and Jeff just managed to get around Kyle out of turn two. Legault pushed hard but Orosz made no mistakes and took the win.

It was vintage form from Jeff Orosz - hard to believe it is several years since he rode regularly.
